Jiyue, the electric vehicle (EV) maker founded by Baidu in partnership with Geely Holding Group, has started pre-sales of its second model, the Jiyue 07 electric sedan, with the official launch scheduled for next month.

Jiyue started pre-sales of the Jiyue 07 yesterday at a starting price of 215,900 RMB yuan ($30,300) and announced that the model will officially go on sale on September 10.

The entire process of launching a new model by electric vehicle manufacturers in China usually includes unveiling, pre-sales and official launch to utilize a longer period of time for marketing purposes.

The Jiyue 07 is a fully electric C-Class sedan and the brand’s second model after the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) Jiyue 01.

According to an earlier registration filing, the Jiyue 07 is 4,953 mm long, 1,989 mm wide and 1,475 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,013 mm.

For comparison, the latest Tesla Model 3 is smaller with a length of 4,720 mm, a width of 1,848 mm, a height of 1,442 mm and a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.

The Jiyue 07 comes with the official version of Apollo 2.0, an intelligent driving system that costs 29,900 RMB as standard. Customers who choose to purchase the system can currently benefit from a discounted price of 4,999 RMB.

Jiyue also offers a monthly subscription option for the system with a standard price of 599 RMB per month.

The Jiyue 07, unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April, is Jiyue’s first sedan model.

Earlier this month, the first Jiyue 07 production vehicle rolled off the production line in Jiyue.

Two battery pack options are available with capacities of 71.4 kWh and 100 kWh and the range offered is 660 kilometers, 770 kilometers and 880 kilometers respectively.

Jiyue is the renaming of the brand formerly known as Jidu. Geely and Baidu established the joint venture Jidu in March 2021, which at the time was owned 55 percent by Baidu and 45 percent by Geely.

In August 2023, Geely and Baidu launched the new brand Jiyue, which materially replaced Jidu. Jiyue’s operating unit is 65 percent owned by Geely, with the remaining 35 percent owned by a subsidiary of Baidu.

Jiyue officially launched the Jiyue 01 on October 27th last year and the first shipment of the model began on October 29th.

As a new electric vehicle manufacturer, Jiyue’s sales figures appear to be subdued and the company has not announced delivery figures, unlike its competitors.
