Bald footballers who looked weirder with hair

Some people simply look better without hair! Just ask Gianluca Vialli.

Disclaimer: I have a disproportionate interest in footballers’ hair. I have no idea why, it probably goes back to a childhood trauma at the hairdresser.

Anyway, while working on a Mick McCarthy story and looking back at the ups and downs of the career of the former Ipswich manager – who resigned with immediate effect on Tuesday night – I realised that he used to have hair.

Of course he has hair now, but while today it looks like the feather-light coat collar Liberace would have worn, in the 1980s he looked like a fresh-faced boy band member.
