Barack Obama’s speech to the National Congress compared to Kendrick Lamar’s diss tracks

Barack Obama and Michelle Obama thrilled the audience at the United Center at the 2024 Democratic National Convention on Tuesday evening (August 20) with two fiery speeches, drawing comparisons to Kendrick Lamar’s Drake disses.

The former president and his first lady electrified Democrats on the second night of the DNC by attacking Republican candidate Donald Trump and urging citizens to vote to ensure their voices are heard on November 5, 76 days from now.

“We don’t need four more years of noise and chaos,” Barack said. “We’ve seen the movie – and we all know that the sequel is usually even worse. America is ready for a new chapter. America is ready for a better story. We are ready for a President Kamala Harris.”

Rap fans immediately began to connect the Obamas’ speeches with Lamar’s disses of Drizzy. “They should have put the ‘Meet the Grahams’ beat behind that Michelle speech,” said the former Desus & Mero Moderator Desus Nice tweeted.

Others went a step further and edited the harrowing instrumental music accompanying the speeches, which some called a “Meet the Trumps” remix.

“His limited, narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hard-working, highly educated, successful people who happened to be black,” Michelle Obama said of Trump before her microphone dropped as the music in the remix video plays. “I want to know who’s going to tell him that the job he’s looking for right now might be one of those black jobs?”

Apple Music host Lowkey continued to quote lyrics from K. Dot’s “Euphoria” and excerpts from Obama’s speeches. “There are three goats left and I see two of them kissing and hugging on stage,” he tweeted.

Another viewer chimed in: “Trump’s social breakdown towards the Obamas is like Drake trying to respond after Kendrick left him for dead. Done.”

Music was also the focus at the DNC in Chicago this week. Patti LaBelle, Common and DJ Cassidy took the stage on the second night. Lil Jon even made a surprise appearance to pump up the thousands of spectators, including Spike Lee and Eva Longoria.

At California Roll Call, West Coast hip-hop dominated the segment. Lamar’s “Not Like Us” provided the soundtrack for a set that included “Alright” by K. Dot, “The Next Episode” by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, and “California Love” by 2Pac.
