BBC The Repair Shop fans worried as expert ‘disappears’ | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Fans of The Repair Shop have expressed their concerns in the latest update after noticing that one of their TV favourites was missing.

Viewers flooded the comments section in droves, all asking the same question: “Where’s Steve?” They were referring to popular pundit Steve Fletcher, who was absent from the latest advert for the new series.

The 61-year-old watchmaker has been a member of the BBC clan since 2017 and conjures up valuable timepieces week after week, impressing guests and viewers with his incredible watchmaking skills.

However, much to the disappointment of his fans, the watch specialist, who works from his barn in West Sussex, does not appear to be in the line-up for the latest episode, which is due to air next week, on August 14.

After spotting the show’s latest post on its official Instagram post, fans were desperately waiting for an update.

Pictures were posted on their official page, including host Jay Blades and his excellent cratering team, but one person seemed to be missing and fans noticed. The program announced: “More repairs. More stories. More memories restored.”

“The all-new #therepairshop starts August 14th on BBC One and iPlayer.” While many were excited about the imminent release of the new series, others were more concerned about Steve’s whereabouts.

One comment read: “I’m currently getting episodes on YouTube but I’ll watch them whenever I can. I love this show. And where’s Steve?” Another replied: “I love this show. Steve is missing from the photo!”

A third concerned visitor to The Repair Shop wanted to know: “Where the hell is Steve?” A fourth even tagged Steve himself and asked for an update, writing: “Where is @stevefletcher.clocks?” and adding a crying face emoji.

It is clear that Steve offers a first class service, having completed a graduate course at the British Horological Institute in 1973. His experience with watches is obviously second to none.

In 2020, his son Fred began an apprenticeship in the watchmaking workshop, preparing to one day take over the family business. He did this while also studying science and engineering at college.

It wasn’t until 2022 that Fred’s son, a watchmaker, appeared alongside him as a skilled watch restorer in The Repair Shop and the two teamed up to repair the greatest clock ever made. However, since neither of them are seen in the first poster, it’s questionable whether or not they will appear.

The new series of The Repair Shop returns to BBC One and iPlayer on August 14, 2024
