Best things to do in Seattle this weekend, August 9-11

Although it’s been a week since the amazing Seafair Weekend air shows, there are still plenty of exciting events planned for this weekend, August 9-11, in the Seattle area.

From live music to sporting events, there’s something for everyone in Western Washington. Here’s what’s happening:

Don Omar “Back To Reggaeton” Tour at WAMU Theater

Don Omar, one of the biggest reggaeton artists in the world, will be in Seattle on Saturday. Tickets for his 7 p.m. show at the WAMU Theater start at $151 through Ticketmaster, and there are still a few seats available online, although the rapper posted that the show is already sold out.

ScHoolboy Q at Showbox SoDo

Los Angeles rapper ScHoolboy Q will perform at the Showbox SoDo on Sunday as part of his tour following the release of his sixth studio album, “Blue Lips.” He plays at 8 p.m. and tickets cost about $50.

South Lake Union Street Festival

South Lake Union’s largest and longest running festival returns Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Westlake Ave. N and Denny Way. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. Live music, food trucks and lawn games are just a few of the attractions you won’t want to miss!

Mariners vs Mets at T-Mobile Park

The Seattle Mariners finish their home games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday against the New York Mets. They start at different times: Friday 7:10 p.m., Saturday 6:40 p.m. and Sunday 4:10 p.m.

Cantanna Fest at McMillin Farm

After a last-minute relocation from Myrtle Edwards Park in Seattle, the Cantanna Festival will now take place Saturday and Sunday at McMillin Farm and Brewhouse in Puyallup. The event, which is open to the public, will feature live music, car shows, food vendors and more.

THING Festival at Remlinger Farms

The THING Festival at Remlinger Farms may be a bit of a drive from Seattle, but it brings some big names to Carnation this weekend. The all-ages festival offers free admission for children under 12, and day tickets start at $130.

Outlaw Music Festival (Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and Billy Strings) at the Gorge Amphitheatre

There’s a strong lineup of well-known singer-songwriters at The Gorge on Saturday, although it’s a long drive from Seattle to Quincy. If you like classic rock or country and want to be there, you can still get a ticket online.

Experience the end of the 2024 Summer Olympics

While the Summer Olympics have been exciting, all good things must come to an end. The final day of play is Sunday, but it’s still a neck-and-neck race between the United States and China to see who will end up with the most gold medals.

Avoid traffic problems

The SR 520 bridge is closed this weekend, which will likely cause heavy traffic on I-5 and I-90. Check out our guide to other road closures and construction projects to watch for in the Seattle area this weekend:
