Best Things to Do with KIDS in Glen Arbor, Michigan – LittleGuide Detroit

It doesn’t get much better than Michigan, and Glen Arbor is as close to paradise as it gets. Plan a trip the whole family will remember for years to come.

GREAT FAMILY HIKES:

  • Pyramid Point Trail is a short and easy hike that the whole family can tackle! It has only a slight incline the entire way but offers a HUGE reward as you finish at the top of a sand dune with amazing views of the lake!
  • Empire Bluff Trail is a 2.4 km forest trail that is PERFECT for kids! It’s not too long, not too steep – and the view at the end is SPECTACULAR!

FAMILY FRIENDLY FOOD

  • Cherry Republic is a MUST! Their outdoor dining is casual (and delicious), with oversized games and tractors for your kids to climb and play on. There’s also live music and pro tip: go into their store and try the free samples!! 😉
  • Farm Club is a modern eatery offering indoor and outdoor dining with incredible views of the on-site garden. The food is fantastic for the adults and the kids menu has something for everyone.
  • The Mill is a NEW cafe (and restaurant…we had a date here and it was AMAZING)! But in the mornings it’s a great place to have pastries and coffee outside by the river!

FAMILY FUN

  • Glen Arbor Township Park has a NEW playground for kids to enjoy! It’s perfectly located near downtown so you can eat and then play!
  • The Cottage Bookstore this might be the CUTEST bookstore you will ever walk into…and I dare you to leave without a book!
  • River Club has just opened a NEW (and AWESOME) mini golf course next to the restaurant, bar and live music stage!
  • Sleeping Bear Dunes is an absolute MUST! No trip to this area is complete without climbing the Sleeping Bear Dunes (or at least trying to)! Your kids will love climbing up and running down the dunes (over and over again).
  • The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail – if your family enjoys biking, this trail is the perfect way to get from Glen Arbor to the dunes. It’s about a 4-mile, relatively flat, paved trail that offers incredible scenery and fun stops along the way (Glen Haven Beach and Historic Village).
  • Glen Haven is a great stop on the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail – with a beautiful (and quieter) beach, general store, restrooms, and the Cannery Boathouse Museum, which is free and open to the public to look at old boats, lighthouse lights, and even ring the bell!
