After a short delay, Big Sean’s Better me than you has a new release date. Sean Don confirmed in an intimate Instagram Live session on Monday (August 26) that his sixth studio album will be released on Friday (August 30).

“The album comes out this week,” he said. “I’m grateful to my mom for being my guardian angel and always giving me advice like that. She really helped me through it. Like I said, I haven’t slept much. I’ve been giving it my all. I’m totally burned out. I’m tired. I’m doing this shit for the people who are messing with me.”
Sean was teary-eyed throughout the cathartic session and revealed that he had some creative concerns about releasing the project, but his mother helped him regain his confidence and move forward with the LP.
“I’m excited. That’s one thing my mom said: ‘Get excited! Get it out – your album is awesome!’ Everyone around me keeps saying that,” he added, before explaining that there will be listening parties on both coasts in New York City and Los Angeles, as well as something for his hometown of Detroit.
Big Sean kicked off 2024 with a handful of singles, including The Alchemist’s “Together Forever,” as well as “On Up,” “Yes,” “Ya Don’t Stop,” and “Precision.” He also appeared on Eminem’s single “Tobey” alongside BabyTron.
The Detroit native has three consecutive No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, his most recent being released in 2020 with Detroit2.
Sean Don will be in conversation with Billboard Deputy Director of Hip-Hop/R&B Carl Lamarre at the Samsung presents Series on Tuesday evening (August 27) at Samsung’s 837 location in NYC.
Better me than you was originally scheduled to be released on August 9, but was pushed back to the end of the month following a leak. Sean unveiled the cover of the project on Monday, which features himself being summoned by some sort of higher power.
