New Delhi: Popular YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT2 Finalist Abhishek Malhan was embroiled in a major controversy. He faced serious allegations related to app fraud. It was alleged that he misled his followers through his promotion of the app HiBox. Users reached out to the YouTuber on social media, requesting him to help them get their money back from the app he had promoted.

Abhishek Malhan HiBox Scam

For those who don’t know, HiBox is a platform that is advertised as a marketplace to buy, sell and shop but turned out to be a scam. The hashtag #HiBoxscam started circulating on X (formerly Twitter) where netizens expressed their outrage over Abhishek’s promotion of the app. Users who downloaded and used HiBox claimed that they were misled by the YouTuber’s advertisements and subsequently lost money.

Abhishek had previously posted numerous posts and videos encouraging his followers to download HiBox, touting it as a reliable source of income. However, the app turned out not to deliver on its promises, and many users felt cheated.

Sharing his frustration, a user revealed that he had invested money in HiBox on the recommendation of Malhan. Later, users were unable to withdraw their money from the app. Another user tweeted, “WARNING: The YouTuber promoting HiBox Mystery Box app has been misleading his followers. It has been 8-10 days that customers have been unable to withdraw their money. Stay alert and vigilant; don’t let the commotion get the better of you. #HiBoxscam #CorruptYoutubers.”

App manufacturers react

Amid the growing backlash, the team at HiBox released an official statement on their X-Handle. The statement read: “Dear users, we are happy to announce that withdrawal of funds for our app has officially started. Withdrawals are processed on a queue basis and should reflect in your bank account within the next 24 hours. Thank you for your patience.”

Despite the app developers’ assurances, users remained skeptical and continued to demand immediate action. Many felt that Abhishek aka Fukra Insaan owed an answer to his followers and must take responsibility for promoting a faulty app.

The YouTuber has not yet commented on this.
