Black Myth: Wukong – How to get all 4 SECRET ships

Check out this guide to permanent upgrades.

Table of contents(Hide)(Show)

You can make bosses easier by unlocking powerful vessels in Black Myth: Wukong. These are secret permanent upgrades that give you special advantages – you become immune to fire damage, immune to wind, and gain other powerful effects that make progress easier.

#1 Fireproof mantel

The first ship is in Chapter 1 and grants fire resistance when equipped. You can only have one vessel equipped at a time, and each vessel has two effects – a standard buff when equipped, and an active buff when you use it in combat. The fireproof cloak, of course, increases fire protection, making you immune to fire. Very, very effective for the final boss of Chapter 1.

Around the Fireproof coatyou must ring all three bells in the jungle area of Chapter 1. The quest to unlock the Fireproof Cloak involves traveling to a secret location and fighting a series of bosses – this is all optional, but will help you later. The Black Wing King at the end of the chapter consumes a lot of fire. If you unlock the cloak, you will be invulnerable to his attacks. Here’s how to complete this quest.

  • In the Forest of WolvesOutside the forest take the road that leads to the optional Guangzhou Boss. From the shrine, go up the hill to the left and take the path up to the bridge. Cross it and you will see an archway that leads into the boss arena.
  • Defeat the boss and you will find a large bell at the back of the arena. Interact to ring the bell. This is the first of three.
  • Past the forest of wolves we continue to the Bamboo Grove – Snake Path area. In the Bamboo Forest you will encounter snake hybrid enemies. There is a large open Bamboo Forest area – look on the right side for a small clearing that leads to the Guangmou Boss Arena.
  • Defeat the boss again and you will find the giant bell at the top of the stairs. Ring it to continue this quest.
  • The last bell is located further in the Bamboo grove. Enter the archway path from the Guangmou Boss Arena to reach the Bamboo Grove – Swamp of White MistHere you will encounter a much more complex boss. Follow the wooden path down to the large temple in the river basin.
  • The White-clad nobleman is a two-stage boss that is much more difficult than previous encounters in this quest. This is a serious boss, so I recommend leveling up and unlocking useful perks like improved evasion. Defeat him to get to the third and final bell.
  • The third bell is not in the large temple. Instead, follow the river cave to the left of the temple. This leads to a large ravine at the end of which the bell is located.

Ringing the third bell teleports you to the Old Guanyin Temple secret area. This area is marked (Secret) in your fast travel menu. There is another small boss here, the Elder Jinchi. Defeat this boss and you will gain full access to the temple area. Examine the corpse to find the Fireproof coat.

Equip the ship before fighting the Black Wing King – an oversized enemy that uses fireballs and other burning magic. Activating this vessel makes you more resistant to fire damage. Very useful against this boss.

#2 Windbender

In Chapter 2, you can unlock the Windbender’s Relic, which gives you high damage resistance and immunity to magical attacks from the wind element. Again, this is incredibly useful in the fight against the final boss of Chapter 2, so you should try to unlock it as early as possible.

The Windbender is unlocked by completing the search for the Drunk pig NPC. You will meet him during the chapter – he is lying on a large rock in Dread Cliff – Rockrest FlatThe pig wants a Sobering Stone and other small parts.

  • There is a sobering stone in a pot in hamlet – the abandoned settlement in the Yellow Wind Formation area. It’s in one of the pots. The drunk pig even says he wants the Sobering Stone from Windrest, which gives you a clue to its location.
  • Alternatively, you can receive a Sobering Stone from a merchant. Defeat the Mother of Stones Boss. This set of glowing stones is located in a rock cave. Defeating him will free an NPC trapped in the rock. Defeat the man upon your return and he will finally allow you to purchase items, making you a vendor. Buy the Sobering Stone by him.

Give the drunk pig the sobering stone and it will ask for more items. It goes to the Temple of the Crouching Tiger – give him a Jade Lotus to progress. This is the temple where you fight the Tiger Vanguard boss. Jade Lotus plants are commonly found in the jungle of Chapter 1 by harvesting plants near the river. After you give him the item, he will move to another location. Find him at Rockcrest Apartment back to his first appearance and he will attack you. He is standing next to the large gate on the right when you enter his area. Defeat the Squire in yellow robe and it will open the way to a secret area.

The gate leads into a gorge that takes you to the Kingdom of Sahali secret sub-area. The entrance is guarded by another mini-boss – this is another version of the Tiger Vanguard. Defeat him and talk to the Rat King on the ridge. He will offer to help you fight the giant beetle that is plaguing the sand dunes. Drop to the ground and fight the Fuban Boss. This is a slow boss fight with a huge monster. You need to aim for the legs and slowly reduce the boss’s huge health bar.

At around 50% or 60% health, Fuban will be weakened and the Rat King will descend to help you. With his help, this fight is much easier and takes less time. The Rat King distracts the bug, so you can win if you take your time. Defeating the boss with the Rat King will give you the Windbender Ship that provides passive protection and makes you immune to wind damage when activated. These are all incredibly useful traits when fighting against the very tough Yellow Wind Sage. When you fight this boss, get this vessel.

#3 Weaver’s Needle

The Weaver needle doesn’t sound as useful as other vessels, but you’ll absolutely need it against one of the bosses in Chapter 4. There are no vessels in Chapter 3, although there is a secret bonus you can unlock by completing the Dragon Quest. Instead, you get the Weaver’s Needle when you finish a series of fights against a recurring boss. This item increases your critical hit damage and improves your chances of landing a critical hit. Very useful passive skills.

  • To get the weaver’s needle, you must Shaded Jade Pond area of Chapter 4 and come across the Poison Daoist Boss. This boss is located in the Webbed HollowShaded Jade Pond after leaving Lanxi village.
  • To find him, enter the cave full of hanging cobwebs. After the first group, you will enter a larger chamber with a hanging cobweb that will talk to you. Attack it and defeat the “Odd Cocoon” to get the Poison Daoist appear.
  • He will retreat to a new location. Go behind him deeper into the area. Continue exploring until you find the Temple of Yellow Flowers – Courtyard of Enlightenment. Teleport here and go down the stairs to the rocky canyon path. There is a road that leads to a large open arena with an underground temple. The Poison Daoist is in the arena so you can attack him immediately. Defeat him a second time.
  • Defeat him this time and he will summon a portal that leads to the Purple Cloud Mountain secret area. Go towards the strange blackness in the distance and rest at the Shrine at Cloud Nest Summit.
  • If you reach the end of this area, you will reach the Twilight Veil optional boss. The Duskveil is a powerful creature with two forms – the first form is relatively easy, but the second form is much more difficult. Save your magic and skills for the second form.

This can be very, very helpful against certain enemies later in the game and is absolutely essential if you want to make some of these fights a lot easier.

#4 Plantain fans

The last vessel is in Chapter 5 and really can’t be missed. The Fan increases stamina regeneration when equipped, or as an active ability, it unleashes a tornado that sweeps enemies away. In a game with so many ways to stun or immobilize enemies, this is still one of the best special abilities.

You will receive the Plantain fans at the end of Chapter 5. Once you have completed the story, return to Princess Iron Fan and talk to her. She will give you the last of the four ships. The tornado is chasing enemies, but you can’t miss this one if you talk to Princess Iron Fan.

And this is how you get all four secret ships in Black Myth: Wukong. These are some of the best permanent upgrades you can get, and they make it much easier to overcome some of the biggest obstacles. Get these as soon as possible – practice against optional enemies and enjoy making the biggest bosses in each area much easier.
