After the Brewers had scored 42 runs and 59 hits in four games, fans were anxiously waiting to see what the Brewers would do tonight. However, this game was the exact opposite of the last four games. The Brewers had only one run and two hits. However, these games had one thing in common: The Brewers won.

At the start of this game, both starting pitchers (Tobias Myers and Nick Martinez) were unhittable. In the first three innings, neither pitcher allowed a hit. The only baserunner came in the top of the third inning, when Ty France reached a base on a fielding error by Willy Adames. Both teams managed to no-hitter their sides in the fourth inning. TJ Friedl hit a two-out single and Gary Sánchez repeated in the bottom half of the inning. In the first four innings, Myers had eight strikeouts, which was already a career high for him.

The next two innings also went by without a baserunner, although Myers only had one more strikeout. In the seventh inning, both teams got their next baserunner. Spencer Steer hit a single with two outs in the seventh inning but stayed on base. Sánchez got on base for the second time when he was hit by a pitch from Martinez, and manager Pat Murphy had Blake Perkins run as a pinch runner. Perkins attempted a steal but was thrown out. Murphy challenged and the call was upheld, depriving the Brewers of a baserunner in the seventh inning.

Myers went out again for the eighth inning and allowed a leadoff single to France, but got Jake Fraley to line out, ending his day at 7. 13 innings. He allowed only three hits and struck out nine players in the opening game.

Joel Payamps ended the eighth inning. He held reliever Stuart Fairchild on first base by throwing out Noelvi Marte and then forced a groundout from Jonathan India to end the eighth inning.

The Reds also resorted to their bullpen to start the eighth inning, bringing in Tony Santillan. Both Adames and Sal Frelick worked Santillan before getting outs. That brought Rhys Hoskins in with two outs. On the second pitch he saw, he hit a fastball into left field, outside the box, giving the Brewers their only run of the game.

The Brewers led 1-0 and the crowd was energized when Devin Williams came out for his first save of the season. It was an exciting inning as each batter took full advantage of the count, including a 3-0 count against Friedl with two outs. However, Williams struck out all three batters, earned the save and completed the 1-0 shutout.

The Brewers will look to win the series tomorrow afternoon. They have not yet announced their starter, but it is believed that DL Hall could return from the IL. In the meantime, the Reds will start Nick Lodolo. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
