Bun B and Boi-1da dismiss Sauce Walka’s belief that Drake doesn’t like Houston rappers

Yesterday in an interview with The Breakfast Clubveteran Houston, Texas rapper Sauce Walka has voiced his strong opinion on Drake. According to him, The Boy doesn’t have as much appreciation for the rap scene in his hometown as he would have us believe. This is something Sauce has been expressing since 2015, when Drizzy hosted his Houston Appreciation Weekend. However, the two recently reconciled, so it’s a little interesting to see those feelings resurfaced. Overall, it seems that the trend in hip-hop for 2024 is to pounce on the Canadian megastar.

As for what Sauce had to say, here are a few quotes from his conversation with Charlamagne tha God and crew. “Why doesn’t Drake have a lot of records with Houston artists to this day? You did that with Atlanta. You made songs with 7, 8, 9, 15 artists in Atlanta.” “Travis Scott is still the only rapper that has a song with Drake. That makes sense because it’s an equal exchange. It’s not like saying, ‘I’m helping Houston and changing your life.'” “It’s about fair exchange and doing business. When you leverage a city’s heritage and culture, you’re doing something that’s not just helping yourself; doing something that’s actually making the economy and the music of that city bigger and greater.”

Bun B and Boi-1da believe Sauce Walka is delusional because of Drake’s slander

Another comment from Sauce Walka referred to the fact that Drake has collaborated with Bun B. However, “Nothing against Bun B, (but) he’s from Port Arthur, not Houston. We’re talking Houston, Texas.” This appealed to the UGK legend and led to him responding with his own Instagram post, according to HipHopDX. “Born in Houston. Northwood Manor. Moved to West Side PA in 6th grade. Nothing forgiven.” One of Drizzy’s more frequent collaborators, producer Boi-1da, also decided to chime in with a response to a comment on a repost of this interview on DJ Akademiks. “Travis, Bun B, Pimp C, OG Ron C, DJ Screw, multiple Houston producers, etc… the sense of entitlement is insane though.” Boi-1da countered with “selective memory πŸ˜‚.”

What do you think about Bun B and Boi-1da’s reactions to Sauce Walka’s claims about Drake and Houston? Do you think Walka made some unauthorized statements, why or why not? Are he and Drizzy back at it now in your eyes? We’d love to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments.
