Caitlin Clark’s ,000 card could soon be overvalued as a lucky fan acquires one of the Fever rookie’s rarest collectibles

When Caitlin Clark signed a deal with Panini America, fans weren’t sure how much hype there was about her collectibles. Even though Clark had become a fan favorite, no one would have thought she would own a card worth $78,000. And now Panini has released another piece of memorabilia signed by her that could surpass her highest-value card. The new Panini America card was snapped up by a lucky fan while recording a video.

During the Breaks in the backyard’ During the first break of the day, one of the fans received the Indiana Fever’s signed rookie card and jumped for joy. The value of the card can be gauged by the fact that the fan expressed his excitement as if he had won a baseball game.

Clark signed a contract with Panini America in March of this year while she was with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Under the contract, Clark’s memorabilia and trading cards would be published by Panini, making Clark the first female athlete to sign such a contract with the billion-dollar company. For example, Clark’s $78,000 card was from her time with the Hawkeyes. It was called the 2022 Bowman University Superfractor 1/1 Autograph. It broke all records for cards by a female basketball player at the January Premier Auction on the PWCC Marketplace. The card was in such demand that bidding had to be increased for more than an hour than planned. And now it looks like a fan finding another card could be the starting point to break the previous record.

The new card is called the 2024 Panini National VIP Gold Pack Gold Vinyl 1/1 Autograph. Unlike the previous card, this one features Clark in her WNBA Indiana Fever jersey, and thus it is expected that more people will try to buy the card when it goes up for auction, so it may surpass the previous price. According to Market Movers (h/t: Hobby Listings), Clark’s cards have seen an increase of around 3.5 percent in the last 30 days, and thus may reach the highest price in the coming period. Clark’s card even got her a spot in NASCAR this year.

In July, Panini made Clark famous in the NASCAR circuit when they sponsored Josh Berry’s No. 4 Ford Mustang. In keeping with their branding plan, they featured Clark on the car. Their color scheme was inspired by one of Clark’s cards, and β€œIt’s raining 3” was printed on the car. Clark was pictured on the hood of the car wearing her Iowa jersey with the number 22.

Panini’s vice president had expressed his delight at the partnership with Berry and Stewart-Haas Racing, stating that β€œPanini America and NASCAR have a long and successful relationship,” according to Fox 59, and they wanted Berry to have a great finish.

As for Clark, it’s not yet known if her latest card will break any records, but one thing is for sure: the Clark hype isn’t here to stay, so fans will want to get their hands on this card soon and also tune in to see her in the WNBA.
