Carnival Vista to be repaired before next cruise – Cruise industry news

The Carnival Vista will undergo mechanical repairs before departing on its next cruise, scheduled for August 18, 2024.

According to a statement from Carnival Cruise Line, the maintenance is intended to correct a recent propulsion issue that caused the ship to operate at reduced speed.

“This week, our technical teams onboard and ashore have been working to resolve an issue limiting Carnival Vista’s cruising speed,” the company said in a letter to booked guests.

Built in 2016, the ship is currently offering an eight-day cruise to the Caribbean and is scheduled to return to Port Canaveral for another departure on Sunday, August 18.

According to Carnival, the Carnival Vista is scheduled to return to its home port very early this morning to carry out a repair plan.

To allow the company’s engineers and technical experts to work for a full day, the ship is expected to dock at Canaveral Harbor at approximately 3:30 a.m., the company added.

“We are also planning a later departure that evening to make the most of the work day, but since Monday is a sea day, this will not impact our arrival time in Half Moon Cay on Tuesday, August 20,” Carnival added.

After departing Port Canaveral, the Carnival Vista offers a six-day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and the Bahamas.

In addition to Half Moon Cay, the itinerary includes visits to Grand Turk (Turks and Caicos Islands) and Amber Cove (Dominican Republic).

Passengers are requested to follow their travel plans to the cruise terminal and arrive within the pre-selected arrival time window.

“Once on board, you will be able to enjoy all the usual leisure activities and entertainment that the team organizes for you. However, as usual, we will not be able to open certain places and services until we reach international waters,” the company added.

Carnival also pointed out that the technical problem had no impact on the ship’s operations other than the ship’s cruising speed.

Carnival Vista was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy and first entered service in 2016. Earlier this year, the 4,000-guest ship returned to Europe for a scheduled dry dock stay at the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain.
