Cars circle shopping center in Clark County

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred between two cars Saturday in the parking lot of the Hazel Dell Crossing shopping center.

According to the sheriff’s office, callers estimated that between 10 and 12 shots were fired before the vehicles left the area.

Authorities have not received any reports of anyone being injured, but at least one other car in the area was reported to have been hit by a bullet, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Officers arrived on the scene around 6:15 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of a shooting at the mall in the 7900 block of Northeast Sixth Avenue in Hazel Dell. Hazel Dell is an unincorporated community in Clark County.

Witnesses told investigators that a white Chrysler sedan fired multiple shots at an occupied dark-colored Volkswagen SUV before fleeing. Investigators later determined that the Volkswagen SUV also appeared to have fired shots at the Chrysler sedan, sheriff’s officials said.

Officers found several empty cartridge cases in the parking lot.

A victim later called 911 and told authorities that the person’s Range Rover had been struck by a bullet in the driver’s door. The owner of the Range Rover was in the process of leaving the parking lot at the time.
