Channing Tatum never expected that a saying from one of his previous roles would become a meme forever.
In an interview with Cinema BlendThe Flash Twice Star admitted his 21 Sprungstrasse The character’s statement in the 2014 comedy, “My name is Jeff,” is quoted again and again, even in unexpected places.
“It’s weird how that happens in pop culture, you know? Same with ‘My Name is Jeff.’ It’s such a small moment in the movie,” he said.
Tatum recalled that the line was “not that funny” at a script reading at the time, but it was the line that unexpectedly became a fan favorite: “I remember we did a reading and it wasn’t even that funny. It was like, whatever. And all of a sudden, man.”
“I’ve never gone through TSA without someone saying, ‘My name is Jeff,'” he revealed. “Almost every time I go through TSA.”
The interviewer told Tatum that his real name was Jeff and that he was called that name. “At least you can tell me that,” the actor said, laughing.
The two films, 21 Sprungstrasse And 22 Sprungstrassein which Hill and Tatum play undercover cops trying to stop a new synthetic drug from breaking out at a high school, then head off to college in the sequel. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s 2012 comedy grossed more than $200 million at the box office. Its 2014 sequel was, at the time, the second-best opening of all time for an R-rated comedy.
In an interview with ComicBook.com In June, Tatum said he was still hoping for the long-rumored third 21 Sprungstrasse Film becomes reality.
“There’s a project that was written, and it’s still the best script I’ve ever read for a third movie,” Tatum said.
After the release of the two successful 21 Sprungstrasse Movies, Sony had thrown around the idea of a crossover film with their comedy franchises, 21 Sprungstrasse And Men in black. Tatum’s co-star Jonah Hill later revealed that a combination of the films was unlikely.
“It’s just a lot of bureaucracy, kind of overkill,” Tatum explained. “It’s really hard to get it done, and we’ve been trying to get it done.”
“You know what, I’m going to do some good things out there and I’m going to say I’d like to see 23 Sprungstrasse,” Tatum said. “I’d love to do it with Jonah, and I know Jonah wants to do it. We’d just love to get back to playing.”
