Chappell Roan will not be seen on the big screen any time soon.

The aspiring pop star (real name Kayleigh Amstutz) talked about how she would rather be “arrested” than pursue acting in a new cover story for interview Magazine will be published on Monday, August 19th.

During the conversation Saturday Night Live Star Bowen Yang asked 26-year-old Roan if she would switch from music to acting if fame as a pop star became too much for her.

“I say this with peace, love and blessings,” Roan told Yang, 33. “Actors are fucking crazy.”

The singer of the “Pink Pony Club” quickly added that she did not mean Fire Island Star, Yang agreed

“I’m crazy,” Yang said.

Roan again disagreed, saying the actor/comedian was not “the vibe” she was referring to with her comment.

“I’m totally confused by film people,” she said. “In the last few weeks I’ve been asked, ‘Do you want to play the lead role in XYZ?’ and I said, ‘No.'”

Although Roan did not reveal any of the projects she was offered, she said she was pleased with the interest but had to decline.

“I originally got into music because I wanted to make it as an actor. Then I moved to Los Angeles and was like, ‘Fuck it,'” she explained. “The industry is really so scary and I have no control over it at all.”

Roan continued, “I can release music whenever I want. I don’t have to wait for a casting director to say, ‘It would be great if we cast you. Then we’ll set your schedule for the next three months.'”

However, the “Casual” artist added a caveat – that she “might make a cameo.”

“I think it would have to be really specific and really silly,” Roan said.

Later that same day, the singer-songwriter took to TikTok to comment on the overwhelming attention she is receiving.

Roan explained why she sometimes had to refuse to take photos and spend time with fans who may have thought they were “entitled” to certain things because of their fame.

“It doesn’t bother me that abuse and harassment and stalking and so on are normal towards famous or somewhat famous people,” she said in a video.

Roan added, “I don’t care that it’s normal. I don’t care that this crazy behavior comes with the job or the career field that I’ve chosen. That doesn’t make it OK. That doesn’t make it normal. That doesn’t mean I want it. That doesn’t mean I like it.”

She explained that it was not “selfish” of her to say “no” to a photo or a hug.

“This is not normal. This is weird. It’s weird how people think you know someone just because you see them online and listen to their art. This is fucking weird. I’m allowed to say no to creepy behavior,” Roan said.

She captioned the clip, “Don’t assume this is directed against anyone or any particular encounter. This is just my side of the story and my feelings.”
