Cheaper Apple Vision could be released in 2025; new details about Apple Glass

Although the Vision Pro sales figures were disappointing, Apple is not about to give up on the segment. The company seems to be convinced that its “spatial computing” platform will occupy an important place in the industry in the future. In this sense, the much-vaunted cheaper Apple Vision product is due to hit the market next year. In addition, there are new important details about Apple’s first “smart glasses”.

No ETA for Apple Vision Pro 2; cheaper Vision product expected next year

A report from June said that the development of the Apple Vision 2 was cancelled or suspended indefinitely. First Next generation model was expected for 2026. Now Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that while Apple Vision 2 is still in development, there is no set release date yet, so it could be quite a while before it happens.

The June report also said that Apple is now focusing on bringing a cheaper Vision headset to market. The company wants a device that costs half as much to give more people access to its “spatial computing” experience. After all, the Apple Vision Pro is a niche product due to its high price. There have also been many complaints regarding ergonomics. Since this is a product that you will be wearing for many hours, comfort is an important consideration.

Gurman confirms the development of the cheaper Apple Vision product, saying it will “probably launch as early as next year.” It is said that Apple wants to offer an experience as close to that of the Vision Pro as possible, so they would use the same screens as the current expensive model. However, the company would cut costs in areas such as camera units, smaller speakers and headband manufacturing.

The first “Apple Glass” product will not have a screen

Gurman also reveals an interesting aspect about Apple’s Smart Glasses. According to the report, the Cupertino giant has postponed the idea of producing real AR glasses. That is, the product will not have a screen, similar to the Meta Ray Ban. Apparently, there were many technical challenges in between that prevented the original idea from being implemented. For reference, the Ray Ban Meta offers features such as taking photos/videos and talking to an AI assistant.

An earlier report said Apple Glasses were planned for 2027 at the earliest, but even internally this was considered unlikely. In fact, Apple had not yet made a decision on the feasibility of the project. Now that the final product is said to be less ambitious, it could potentially launch this year. However, the report does not provide any details on an expected ETA.
