The cheapest place in Merseyside to fill up your car with petrol this weekend is a Tesco petrol station in Sefton. According to the latest data from retailers, the driver of an average family car could save up to £8 by filling up at this petrol station, compared to the most expensive.

The Tesco petrol station in Town Lane Kew in Southport is charging motorists 136.9p per litre, meaning it costs £79 to fill an average 55-litre tank. This is based on a feed of current petrol prices compiled by the government’s Competition and Markets Authority last September. The average price of a litre of petrol in the Merseyside region this week is 140.0p.

For diesel car owners, the cheapest place to fill up is the Sainsbury’s petrol station in Liverpool. According to retailer prices, the price of a litre of standard diesel at this station was 142.9 pence.
