Chicago DNC 2024: Parking restrictions around the United Center go into effect Monday before the convention

CHICAGO (WLS) — Monday marks one week until the start of the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago.

Parking restrictions will go into effect Monday morning. Neighbors will also see fences and other security measures being put up.

Starting at 11:00 a.m., parking restrictions will apply around the United Center security area.

Parking restrictions around UC include:

-Washington between Damen and Wood

-Wolcott between Washington and Warren

-And Paulina between Monroe and Adams.

– At the same time, parking restrictions will also come into effect around McCormick Place.

They plan to start putting up fences at 9 a.m. and close additional streets if necessary.

People who live in the area say they are already frustrated with the effort involved in hosting the DNC in their backyard.

“I think it’s a little bit good, but you still have to think about us, because I’m at the back… I’m right here in the middle… what about me?” said a resident named T.

From Friday, comprehensive road and parking restrictions will come into force within the security areas.

We ask that people allow extra time to travel for setup this week and for the entire conference next week.
