CHICAGO (WLS) — Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, are expected to attend the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago on Sunday.

The first of two approved demonstrations will take place on Sunday afternoon in the Loop.
The approved protest will lead protesters from Michigan to the Logan statue on East 9th Street in Grant Park. The demonstration will be about 1.5 miles from its starting point.

The protest is called “March for Bodies Outside Unjust Laws.”
The demonstrators said they were protesting the Democratic Party’s refusal to live up to its rhetoric in favor of reproductive and LGBTQ rights.
We will do this in a safe and orderly manner, there will be peaceful protests and we welcome them.
They plan to demonstrate together with those demanding an end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
The protest is scheduled to begin near Michigan and Wacker and is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Monday.
“We welcome people to exercise their right to free speech and there will actually be an area where protesters can express their opinions,” said Senator Tammy Duckworth. “We’ve even created a march route and a parade route so people can actually have protest marches if they want to.”

The next authorized protest is planned for Monday near the United Center. Protesters will march from Union Park to Park 578, just a few blocks north of the United Center.
Organizers said they are now allowed to set up a stage and sound system in Park 578, making it within sight and hearing of the thousands of people attending the United Center.

The 2024 Democratic National Convention will be held Monday, August 19, through Thursday, August 22, at the United Center and McCormick Place in Chicago.
