City of Albuquerque offers free sprinkler games in parks

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — The City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department will activate sprinkler systems at four parks as temperatures are expected to reach triple digits on Saturday.

Sprinkler games will be offered in these parks on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.:

  • Redlands Park – 5121 Sequoia NW (Northwest Quadrant)
  • Loma Del Norte Park – 7511 Burke NE (Northeast Quadrant)
  • Singing Arrow Park – 12929 Piru SE (southeast quadrant)
  • Dennis Chavez Park – 715 Kathryn SW (Southwest Quadrant)

The department is prepared to turn on the sprinkler system on Wednesday when temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees. Hours would shift to 3:30-4:00 p.m.:

  • Shawn McWethy Park – 8660 Casa Verde NW (Northwest Quadrant)
  • Altura Park – 4200 Hannette NE (Northeast Quadrant)
  • Tiguex Park – 1714 Mountain NW (southwest quadrant)
  • Chelwood Park – 13205 San Juan NE (Southeast Quadrant)

The city’s pools and wading pools are now open for the fall/winter as Albuquerque Public Schools students have returned to school. All outdoor pools are closed for the season, with the exception of Eisenhower Pool, Sierra Vista Pool, Wilson Pool and Rio Grande Pool. However, these pools will only be open on weekends through September 2.

All wading pools in the city are closed, except for North Domingo Baca and Civic Plaza. These wading pools will be closed on October 13.
