The Ohio State Buckeyes have made the College Football Playoffs five times, finishing 3-4, and have made two national championship appearances and won one.
The first time they dominated the college football world unchallenged was in 2014. They have not done so since, losing to Alabama in the 2020 CFP National Championship.
Ohio State won the championship in the first playoff format, and now the Buckeyes are on the short list to take home the title in the first 12-team playoff, or at least that’s what College Football News thinks.
Author Pete Fiutak predicts that the final game of the season will be between Georgia and Ohio State and the Buckeyes will emerge victorious. Why does Fiutak think it will be these two?
“Ohio State and Georgia will be by far the two best teams in college football. They will play the season like champions and despite the month-long journey through the expanded College Football Playoffs, they will make it here in one of the best matchups in CFP Championship history – however brief that may have been,” Fiutak wrote.

Fiutak goes on to say that the Buckeyes will also beat the Bulldogs. He also analyzed five teams that could compete for a spot in the championship, naming Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame and Utah as other options.
Ohio State will likely be one of the chosen ones to win it all for most of the season, and that journey begins on August 31 in Akron, fortunately just a few weeks away.
