Colonie Little League fields look better after torrential storm

Colonie Little League baseball fields are being cleared following severe flooding on Monday.

The Colonie Little League baseball fields, which were flooded after heavy rains on Monday, are looking much better thanks to the work of dedicated volunteers.

The stands and electrical equipment in Cook Park were also about one meter under water.

“I’ve been down here 15 or 16 years and I’ve never seen anything even close to this – not even close,” said Tim Cook, a Little League board member. “I’ve seen puddles on the field. I’ve never been on a baseball field before where the water was up to my waist.”

Cook came to look at the damage after the storms. He said he was very concerned about the damage because maintaining all the equipment and fields was very expensive. The soil in the fields alone cost thousands of dollars.

Much of the equipment needs to be replaced or professionally cleaned

Cook said he was grateful to people who helped after seeing the photos he posted on social media and the coverage on NewsChannel 13.

We heard from a man who owns a restoration company and offered to help prepare the fields for free.
