The Colorado State Fair begins at the fairgrounds

Performances of the play “Trap” at the Impossible Playhouse

1201 N. Main St. | Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. | The community theater group’s 58th season begins with “Trap,” the story of an unbelievable event in which all but one of the audience members at a high school theater are knocked unconscious. Using interviews with witnesses, relatives, first responders and investigators, a theater ensemble brings the story of this strange event to life. The play is rated for ages 13 and up. Fundraising breakfast at the Shrine of Saint Therese

300 Goodnight Ave. | 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. | The Knights of Columbus serve pancakes, eggs, sausages, coffee and orange juice. The cost is $8 and take-away is possible.

Retro Dragtacular at Darkness Boutique

Northern Ave. | 2:00 p.m. doors and brunch, 3:00 p.m. show | Hosted by Tiara Latrice, this retro glamour performance event showcases the talents of Arachnophobia, Leia Trillz Latrice, Rebecca Alize Latrice and Vanessa Latrice. Comedy play “Prima’s Guide to Funerals” at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center
