WAYNESBORO – Due to COVID, a local school is closed until the end of this week.
Waynesboro Public Schools announced that the Wayne Hills Preschool Center will remain closed through Friday due to the number of staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19.
“Without adequate staffing, we are unable to maintain a safe environment,” the school division said in a post on Facebook. “The program will resume on Monday, August 26.”

The decision only affects the preschool center. Other schools in the district are not affected by the closure.
“All other schools will resume operations according to their normal timetable,” the post said.
The Virginia Department of Health reports only 70 COVID cases in Waynesboro over the past 13 weeks and only nine cases for the week of August 11-17. The last date the dashboard was updated was August 20.
