CRRUA reports discolored water in Sunland Park after well repair

The water company that serves Sunland Park and Santa Teresa reported discolored water Tuesday after repairing a well.

The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) informed its customers via social media that residents in the Bluffs and Valencia Park areas should expect discolored water following the repair of a well.

According to CRRUA, after the repaired well was put back into operation, the water flow “stirred up” deposits in the pipes, causing the water to become discolored.

CRRUA stated that despite the color, the water was safe to drink, but advised residents to wait to do laundry until the water was clear.

CRRUA also mentioned that the Sunland Park Fire Department flushed fire hydrants in the affected areas to get rid of the discolored water.

If your home or workplace is in the affected area, CRRUA recommends that you flush faucets with cold water for five minutes.

CRRUA expects the problem to be resolved by Wednesday evening.
