Davis Medical Center selects Kwon to lead emergency department | News, Sports, Jobs

ELKINS – Davis Medical Center announced the appointment of Dr. Elena Kwon as the new Director of the Emergency Department at Davis Medical Center and Broaddus Hospital, effective August 1.

Dr. Kwon brings extensive experience as an emergency and trauma physician and medical director, making her an excellent leader of the team.

Dr. Kwon earned her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, her Master of Public Health from the University of Washington, Seattle, and her Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

She is board certified and holds certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS. She has served as the Deputy Biodefense Advisor to the U.S. Surgeon General and Co-Chair of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Biodefense Committee. Dr. Kwon has over 16 years of experience in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and emergency medicine, as well as 12 years of experience in public health and occupational medicine.

As the new Emergency Department Director, Dr. Kwon will oversee the delivery of high-quality emergency care services and ensure that DHS hospitals efficiently and compassionately meet the needs of our communities. She is committed to creating a collaborative and supportive environment for our medical staff and improving emergency care protocols.

Dr. Kwon is moving to Elkins and is excited to become a new resident of the community.
