DecadeBridge SpeculumLITE is a free dual stereo delay plugin with independent filtering for each channel and an incredible number of LFOs.

The name DecadeBridge will certainly sound familiar to some of you. It is an independent developer from the UK who has released some exciting drone synths.like Albers, Cadence or Diamonds in the Dust. What few people know is that it also has a plugin history.

There are still some 32-bit relics on his website. He has just released SpeculumLITE, a brand new free delay plugin with an extensive feature set.

SpeculumLITE is a new, free, creative dual delay and filter plugin. Its core consists of two independent stereo delay lines (A/B) that offer the same feature set. Each delay has three modes. In delay mode, the plugin creates the classic repeat effects you expect from a classic delay, with independent control of the left and right sides.

The Comb makes the motor run faster to create comb filter effects, while the R>L Link mode links both L/R channels. Additionally, you’ll find two sine wave LFOs in each delay block for modulating the timing and feedback parameters.

Then each delay block (A/B) of DecadeBridge SpeculumLITE has its own filter block, in which the signal first passes through a low-pass filter and then a high-pass filter. That’s a whole host of shaping options.

Both have classic controls (cutoff/resonance) and can self-oscillate at higher resonance settings – ideal for wild, loud tones. Like the delays, each filter block contains two sine wave LFOs with rate and depth controls that control the frequency of the low-pass and high-pass filters.

SpeculumLITE’s mixer section is also quite extensive. Each signal part (A/B) has its own mixer that can receive and send signals to different parts of the effect. These are also equipped with more sine wave LFOs. There is also a dry signal section with an output parameter and another LFO.

The plugin covers a wide range of possible sounds. From classic stereo delays and modulated delays to experimental sounds such as glitches and textures. To get you started, the developer supplies the plugin with various factory presets.

First impression

DecadeBridge has enriched us with some beautiful, experimental hardware synths in recent years. Now he’s continuing this in software.

SpeculumLITE is not just another ordinary free delay. Its flexible routing, built-in filters and many LFOs make it a unique processor. One downside: the plugin is not compatible with MacOS Apple Silicon, only with Intel. I hope this will be added later.

DecadeBridge SpeculumLITE is now available for free download. It runs as an AU plugin on macOS Intel (no Apple Silicon support) and as a VST3 plugin on Windows.
