“DeLand SunRail Circulator” offers passengers free rides from the new station to the city center

DELLAND, Florida. – Shortly after the grand opening of the DeLand SunRail station last week, city officials announced a free shuttle service that will take passengers from the station to downtown.

“In addition to the County of Volusia’s VoRide program, a Votran shuttle will be dedicated exclusively to transport SunRail passengers from the DeLand station to downtown,” city officials wrote on social media.

According to a press release, the DeLand SunRail Circulator will operate Monday through Friday from approximately 12:30 p.m. to approximately 7:45 p.m. Each trip will make six stops in downtown DeLand before returning to the DeLand station.

Just show your ticket to the driver and you’ll have no problem boarding, officials said.

The DeLand station will be SunRail’s northernmost stop, connecting Persimmon Hollow with DeBary, Poinciana and more than a dozen stations in between along a 61-mile network of tracks.

The $40 million expansion was in the planning stages for years, was first approved in 2020, and extends SunRail’s route by about 19 kilometers.

“This is very exciting. It provides an opportunity to explore Central Florida, see jobs throughout Central Florida while taking a comfortable train ride to work and not having to worry about traffic on I4 or parking when you arrive. But it also gets people to visit DeLand and see West Volusia,” said DeLand Mayor Chris Cloudman.
