DeWine directs state aid to Northeast Ohio after storms

Nearly three days after four tornadoes and a macroburst struck northeast Ohio, Governor Mike DeWine issued a proclamation asking for help.

In the proclamation, the governor ordered and authorized “all departments and agencies of the state to be ready and to use their personnel and resources as necessary to protect the lives, safety, health and property of the citizens of Ohio and to assist in the recovery efforts in communities affected by this severe weather, if necessary and requested by local authorities.”

The trail of devastation snaked through much of northeast Ohio.

According to DeWine, the Ohio EMA is monitoring the situation.

DeWine’s press release stated that the Department of Health currently has the only request for assistance in providing medical supplies.

According to the press release, other state agencies, including the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, have also been closely monitoring developments as part of their regulatory roles for SNAP benefits and electricity utilities.
