Cleanup and repairs on the Dixon Fire are almost complete.
An update said that emergency crews continued to secure the fire site early Monday morning by searching the fire areas for residual heat and removing fuel bubbles.
In the northwest portion of the fire, cleanup is mostly complete and monitoring and patrolling is underway. In the southeast portion, crews have completed the majority of cleanup, heavy equipment work and hazard tree removal. On the east flank, crews have continued final cleanup, including checking for heat near structures.
On Tuesday, crews focused on improving fire safety by cleaning up the southeastern edges of the fire. Firefighters continue to patrol along the northern edge and repair any damage to soil, water and other resources caused by firefighting operations.
The update states that many areas of the fire are now meeting or close to meeting local authority firefighting standards. If the firefighting standard is met across the fire perimeter, the fire will cope well with the management skills of the local Type 4 organisation that will take it over. If firefighting and repair work proceeds on schedule or faster than planned, the fire will move to Category 4 at 6pm on Wednesday
