Doom 2 Ray-Traced looks even better with RTX Remix Renderer

Earlier this week, we shared an awesome path tracing mod for Doom 2. But what if I told you that you can make Doom 2 ray-traced look even better? Well, see, its modder has also released an experimental RTX Remix renderer. And as you’ll see, it looks incredible.

As Shirokii said, RTX Remix creates a fully path-traced image with more complex light interactions. Also, the image will be much sharper and clearer on powerful PCs. It also supports NVIDIA’s Ray Reconstruction.

Below are some comparison screenshots. The standard Doom 2 Ray-Traced renderer is on the left, while the RTX Remix renderer is on the right.

As you can easily see, the RTX Remix screenshots look much better. Take the first image for example. In the standard renderer, the outdoor environment looks flat and lacks the light source that is right in front of you. Or how about the fourth comparison? RTX Remix offers a sharper and more natural image with more light reflections.

The only downside to the RTX Remix Renderer is that the “jelly” blood effects don’t work. Instead, you’ll see the original blood effects and particles. But for those who didn’t like the “jelly” effects, this might actually be a good thing. After all, many people complained about them, so that’s another plus point if you didn’t like them.

So if you have an NVIDIA RTX GPU, I highly recommend you to use the RTX Remix Renderer. You can download it from this link. You just have to unzip it in the same folder where Doom 2 Ray-Traced is located. Then you just have to run the “gzdoom-remix.bat” executable file. And that’s all.

If you are looking for other cool mods for Doom, I recommend you check out Voxel Doom. Then we have Aliens Eradication TC, a must-have mod for all our Aliens fans. Brutal Doom: Black Edition is a mod that tries to bring the art style of Doom 3 to the game. There is also a cool Doom 64 inspired episode mod that you can download. And finally, you can download Bloom (a crossover between Blood and Doom).

Have fun and stay tuned for more!
