Dorrien retires as Managing Director of the West Midland Family Center

After 37 years at the West Midland Family Center, Managing Director Greg Dorrien will soon end his career.

Dorrien announced his resignation on Monday, but will remain in office until January 10, 2025, to give the board time to hire a successor.

“For 37 years, Greg served the people of Midland County and West Midland in particular,” said Dave Parrillo, board president of the West Midland Family Center, located off M-20 in Greendale Township. “The center grew during his tenure because he recognized and implemented the need to better serve community members. The center also diversified its services during his tenure because he always had a heart for meeting the most pressing needs of every generation of the community. Greg’s vision, leadership and tireless dedication positively changed countless lives in our region. He will be missed, and his legacy of helping every community member TODAY reach their full potential TOMORROW will continue to be an inspiration to us all.”

The center celebrated its 50th anniversary on July 25, attracting hundreds of people for games, activities and refreshments.

In addition to a variety of other programs, the center offers preschool, aquatics, senior services and a bowling center.
