Drake fans troll Joe Budden after ‘Pump It Up’ goes gold after 21 years

Recently, Joe’s biggest song “Pump It Up” was certified gold. During his last podcast, Budden was presented with a gold plaque for the song. This led to discussions about the impact of the song and how it is possible that it did not go gold until 2024. One explanation for this is that it is up to the label to apply for RIAA certifications. Budden and Def Jam did not end their relationship on the best of terms and this may have caused some delay in the process.

Joe Budden celebrates

Despite this valuable context, Drake fans decided to make their jokes anyway. In the replies to DJ Akademiks’ tweet above, fans were quick to mock Budden for his performance. Many noted that with Drake, it would never take 25 years for a song to reach gold status. They also made sure to include as many one-hit-wonder jokes as humanly possible. It was all very cruel and ignores the fact that their favorite artist has been a Joe Budden fan for ages.
