Drake hints at continuation of his feud with Kendrick Lamar

Drake has hinted that his epic feud with Kendrick Lamar may not be over yet, and hinted that there could be a sequel soon.

The rapper posted slightly cryptic messages on his social media channels based on unexpected comebacks in pop culture, suggesting that despite the outside world’s assessment that Kendrick won the first round, the fight may not be over.

One post consisted of an image from the 1987 John Woo action film A Better Tomorrow IIin which actor Chow Yun-fat returns despite his injury in the first film, while another film quotes basketball coach Rasheed Wallace predicting his team Detroit Pistons’ unlikely comeback in the Eastern Conference finals.

DJ Akademiks, a close confidant of Drake, posted that the Toronto rapper had new music “on the way” and seemed to deny rumors that one of the upcoming singles would include a sample of Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror.”

The saga dominated the hip-hop agenda for several months, with numerous rap greats coming forward to share their thoughts, including AndrĂ© 3000, who said it made him “a little sad,” and Questlove, who called it “wrestling-level mudslinging and taking down by any means necessary.”

Recently, Mustard – who produced “Not Like Us” for Kendrick – called Drake a “weird guy,” while billionaire Michael Rubin banned that very song from his party this year due to Drake’s presence.

Most observers believe Lamar won the dispute, which had been simmering since 2013 and escalated earlier this year when Kendrick appeared on “Like That” from Metro Boomin and Future’s joint album “We Don’t Trust You” and the two exchanged scathing diss tracks.

Lamar released “Not Like Us” – his fourth Drake diss track – in May and told the Canadian rapper: “Say, Drake, I hear you like ’em young/ Better never go to cell block one/ With some bitch that talk to him and make love to him/ Just make sure you hide your little sister from ’em.”

The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and broke Spotify’s record for most-streamed rap song in a day.

In other news, Drake released 100 gigabytes of data last month, including three new songs. He also appeared on two songs from Camila Cabello’s new album and announced a new album with PartyNextDoor.
