Despite a strong preseason, Mac Jones will sometimes “revert to his Patriots behavior,” according to Doug Pederson
Drake Maye got off to an impressive start Sunday night, leading a touchdown drive on his first series of the night.
The offensive line, however, had its problems. They missed a few pulls, one of which resulted in Jacoby Brissett going down. Mayes’ first snap was botched.
During one game, Sidy Sow was seen stepping on Maye’s cleats. The shoe flew off Maye’s foot and onto the grass.
Maye refused to give up on the play, continuing his run and keeping his eyes on the field, where he connected with running back JaMycal Hasty for a 14-yard gain.
Maye completed eight of his first 12 passes, including an 18-yard touchdown to Kevin Harris, who broke a tackle, kept moving and charged toward the goal. Maye also found fellow rookie Ja’Lynn Polk on a 29-yard play-action pass.
Brissett, who coach Jerod Mayo said was the Patriots’ starter before the game, went 2-for-4 in the first quarter during his only series of appearances.
