Dolphins

Last season, the Dolphins experienced extremely productive seasons with RBs Raheem Mostert And De’Von Achane. With the emergence of RB in the fourth round Jaylen Wright and other notable veterans in the squad like RB Jeff Wilson Jr.MiamiCoast Michael McDaniel understands how important it is to have sufficient depth at this position.

“I mean, who says we have to stop at two (starters)?” McDaniel said of Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk: “Maybe we can just have four. I think you have to let the players decide who gets the ball and how often and how much during the game, and that’s very important. I think the cool thing is when you have a position group that you know is very, very talented by NFL standards — one of the most talented, if not the most talented, that you can remember or have played on teams with — you don’t worry about how that’s going to play out. You let it play out and it’s always very obvious.”

Nozzles

The Jets have added OT Thomas Smith this offseason after a great 13-year career in Dallas. New York C Joe Tippman and G Alijah Vera-Tucker emphasized how important Smith’s veteran experience was to the entire team in camp.

“When he is in the team, you always feel his presence,” Tippmann said of Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic: “Not only is he a great player, he’s a great guy… He’s kind of the older voice on the O-line that can make recommendations.”

“When he gives advice, we all listen because he has been here for a long time and has done his work at a high level,” added Vera Tucker. “(During the passes) he works on his technique, snap count, everything. And then he brings that to the practice field.”

  • Tippmann believes he has resolved his snapping issues after experiencing some growing pains during training camp, which he attributed to a heavier workload this offseason. (Rich Cimini)

Patriots

Owner of the Patriots Robert Kraft guaranteed for first-round QB Drake May while fighting QB Jacoby Brissett for the starting job.

“He seems very solid, good values. He comes early, works hard,” Said Kraft about Zolak & Bertrand. “All the fundamentals are there and I think he has a good foundation and I think he’s working on building something very special.”

  • According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, Patriots HC Jerod Mayo believes Maye “definitely taken a step forward” in the team’s season-ending loss on Thursday.
  • Mayo intensifies competition for the starting place “is definitely not over yet.”
  • Phil A. Perry of NBC Sports Boston said the executives he spoke with were “shocked” through the third-round pick compensation in the trade of OLB Matt Judon to Atlanta as most expected it to be a late-round pick.
  • Perry believes that even the Patriots were surprised at how well Judon was represented in the market: “I think even the Patriots, if you gave them a truth serum, would be surprised that they ended up getting a third-round pick for Matthew Judon.”
