Drake shares dramatic video of mansion flooded after storm in Toronto

The floods in Toronto are hitting Drake very, very close.

The 37-year-old “God’s Plan” rapper shared a dramatic video on his Instagram story on Tuesday showing severe flooding in a building believed to be his Toronto mansion.

The video showed a person, presumably Drake, filming himself wading through water that filled the floor of an entire room and reached up to his ankles.

“This should hopefully be an espresso martini,” says the screen. The person filming is holding a broom and moving towards a door. You can see what appears to be some water flowing into a hallway.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Drake.

More than 100 mm of rain fell in spots across Toronto on Tuesday, the city said. As of Wednesday, about 3,200 customers were still without power, compared to 167,000 previously, according to Toronto Hydro. The flash flooding led to some road closures, two of which had not yet reopened as of early Wednesday.

The City of Toronto has said residents should call 311 to report basement flooding. According to a press release, the number has received over 700 such calls. “Be mindful of your health and safety when cleaning a flooded basement. Do not stand in floodwater – call a professional for help,” the City of Toronto warned.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake rap beef: What makes this music dispute so significant?

Drake’s Toronto mansion, known as The Embassy, is 4,645 square meters and features an indoor basketball court and a 3,100 square foot master bedroom, according to Architectural Digest.

“Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years,” Drake told the magazine in 2020. “I wanted it to have a monumental scale and aura. It will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong.”

During a feud between the two rappers this year, Kendrick Lamar used an image of Drake’s house as the cover art for his diss track “Not Like Us.” On the cover, Drake’s house was covered in red pins, the kind used to show where registered sex offenders reside.

May also saw several police-involved incidents at Drake’s Toronto mansion within a matter of days. After a security guard was shot outside Drake’s home, one person was arrested following an attempted break-in. Police were then called on an intruder who was involved in an “altercation” with the security guard.
