drake is back with a new batch of fresh music.
On Friday night, August 23, The Boy shocked his fans by posting three new songs on his Burner account on Instagram. The first track he posted is “Circadian Rhythm (The Language 2),” produced by Gordo. He also shared a brand new collaboration with Playboi Carti “No Face”. On the track, Drake apparently addressed his dispute with Kendrick Lamar and the artists who did not defend him during this epic battle.
“Them n***as got upset about the features I skated on/I gotta know, I gotta know/How you got upset about the n**as that you hated?” Drake raps.
“My therapist gave me thirty days’ notice/’Cause all I ever talk about is fights and deals and money and women,” he continued. “It’s not a diagnosis, they emptied the magazine/Quick, swapped that shit out and I came back reloaded/I’m just so happy that the n***as that were jealous and kept that shit inside finally got to show it/I’m over the moon, yeah, see you guys soon.”
Drake hasn’t returned fire at Kendrick Lamar or anyone else since the dust settled on hip-hop’s high-profile civil war in May. He alluded to the dispute Sexy Red’s “U My Everything”, but otherwise he keeps to himself. Since then, K.Dot has been doing his victory lap at “The Pop Out” on Juneteenth in Los Angeles and rocked the world with his Music video for “Not Like Us”.
The last “surprise” track from Drake’s trio is “Shit.” DJ Akademiks had already warned fans that Drizzy would release the song without Lil Yachty even after the Atlanta rapper brought him the record first. The duo had initially worked as a tag team on the song, which samples Mr. HotSpot’s “Goodness Gracious.” After HotSpot did not approve the sample, Yachty passed the track on to streamer Kai Cenat. Eventually, HotSpot changed his mind and approved the song but only if a clean version was released. Fans were prepared to hear it without Yachty’s verse amid the alleged rift between the twobut they didn’t expect Drake to release the song on Lil Boat’s birthday.
