Drake White replaces Creed Fisher for performance at Missouri State Fair

The Missouri State Fair announced that Drake White will now open for Ian Munsick on Thursday, August 15, after original opening act Creed Fisher was involved in a hit-and-run accident.

American Songwriter reports that Fisher was involved in the accident before his scheduled performance at Rollie’s in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota on Saturday, August 10. Fisher’s team released an update on Monday, saying Fisher’s condition is slowly but steadily improving, and noted that Fisher’s family is asking for privacy and appreciates the continued thoughts and prayers of their fans.

According to an Instagram post from American Songwriter Fisher’s team, the country star is currently undergoing a series of surgeries to repair the damage caused in the hit-and-run accident.

Fisher did a Facebook Live with friends this morning where he talked about his experiences after the accident. The video can be found on his Facebook page here. I want to warn you: some of his experiences after the accident are pretty intense and life-changing, and some of the language is not appropriate for work, so the video may not be suitable for everyone.

Representing Fisher at the Missouri State Fair is Drake White. White grew up singing in the church choir before becoming one of country music’s most spirited innovators, scoring four Top 40 hits and touring the country on several national tours. His 2013 debut single, “Simple Life,” introduced his brand of country soul. “Simple Life” was followed by his debut album, “Spark,” in 2016, followed by two EPs, “Pieces” and “Stars.”

White is no stranger to adversity; in August 2019, he collapsed on stage due to a hemorrhagic stroke and doctors told him he might never be able to perform again. After a series of surgeries and months of physical therapy, White proved them wrong and launched his Optymystic Tour to share his incredible positivity with his fans.

White’s accolades include being named one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Country Artists You Need To Know,” being named “The Grammy Artist of Tomorrow,” and being named “International Song of the Year” at the UK’s CMA Awards.

White will open for Ian Munsick at the Missouri State Fair on Thursday, August 15th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 for grandstand and $55 for trackside seating. For fans who specifically went to see Creed Fisher and would like a refund, the Missouri State Fair has refund information here.
