Dricus Du Plessis thanks Drake for UFC 305 win as rapper loses half a million

UFC middleweight titleholder Dricus du Plessis jokingly thanked Drake for betting against him in his first title defense at UFC 305.

Du Plessis submitted Israel Adesanya in Round 4 of their epic fight at UFC 305 in Perth on Saturday. Du Plessis rallied to knock the former champion down and eventually applied a rear-naked choke.

UFC 305 was Dricus Du Plessis’ first title defense after winning the UFC middleweight title earlier this year. For Adesanya, it is the first time in his MMA career that he has lost two fights in a row.

Despite his rapid rise up the middleweight rankings, many continued to doubt du Plessis ahead of UFC 305. One of the most notable critics was Drake, who bet $450,000 that Adesanya would dethrone du Plessis at UFC 305.

After Drake’s big gamble didn’t pay off, du Plessis acknowledged the rapper’s enormous financial loss.

Dricus Du Plessis makes a fool of Drake after UFC 305

In a recent tweetDricus Du Plessis has nudged Drake after the sportsbook’s massive loss.

“From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU again (Drake),” du Plessis tweeted after UFC 305.

Drake is known for placing high stakes on UFC fights. He placed a bet on Strickland to defeat du Plessis at UFC 297 in January, but Strickland fell short on the judges’ scorecards.

Du Plessis remains undefeated in his UFC career, having recently defeated Robert Whittaker, Darren Till and Derek Brunson. His win at UFC 305 extended his 10-fight winning streak in the cage.

Du Plessis could potentially face Strickland in a rematch for his next title defence. Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev are two other prominent names in the race.

Drake’s terrible losing streak at the sportsbooks continued this weekend thanks to du Plessis. If du Plessis’ post-event tweet is any indication, he wants Drake to keep betting against him.
