Electricity consumption has decreased due to the drop in temperature. There are no planned power outages. Emergency supplies were delivered yesterday, and today imports from 5 countries are planned. As of this morning, 531 settlements are without electricity. Power engineers are waiting for permission to repair the damage caused by Russian shelling to the power line supplying the nuclear power plant. Consequences of the Russian attacks

“Yesterday, August 22, Russian shelling damaged one of the power lines supplying the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. As a result, the reliability of the power supply to the nuclear power plant was compromised. Power engineers are waiting for permission from the military to carry out repair work,” Ukrenergo said.

According to the Ministry of Energy:

Southern Region: As a result of the shelling, equipment in the substation was shut down. Private households were without electricity. Power supply has been restored.

Southeastern Region: Due to the fighting, overhead power lines were shut down, which caused a voltage drop in the RES plant. There was no power outage for consumers.

“Due to lower temperatures in the western, northern and central regions, consumption has decreased. Today, August 23, at 9:30 a.m., it is 6.9% lower than the previous day. Therefore, please use electricity sparingly during the period of maximum consumption – from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.,” the NPC said.

Yesterday, August 22, the highest consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 3.8 percent lower than on Wednesday, August 21.

“No restrictions on consumption are expected today,” Ukrenergo said.

Emergency assistance

Yesterday, August 22, Ukraine received emergency assistance from the Slovak power grid at the request of NPC Ukrenergo.

Import and export

Imports – all day long from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova. The total volume is 19,010 MWh, with the maximum output in some hours reaching 1,581 MW. Exports are not carried out and are not planned.

Power outages

According to Ukrenergo, 531 settlements are completely or partially cut off from electricity due to the fighting and other reasons. Due to the hostilities, power outages are occurring in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. Consumers in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions are cut off from electricity for technical reasons.

Situation at the ZNPP nuclear power plant

“The water level in the cooling basin is 14.61 meters. This is enough to cover the power plant’s needs,” the Energy Ministry said.
