FALLS CHURCH, Va. – The Defense Health Agency has announced that TRICARE beneficiaries in four Ohio counties can receive emergency prescription refills now through August 17, 2024 due to storm damage.
The affected counties are Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lorain and Portage.
To obtain an emergency prescription drug refill, TRICARE enrollees must take their prescription bottle to any pharmacy in the TRICARE distribution network. If the bottle is not available or the label is damaged or missing, enrollees must contact Express Scripts, Inc. or their distribution network pharmacy for assistance.
To find a network pharmacy, beneficiaries can call Express Scripts at 1-877-363-1303 or search the Network Pharmacy Finder.
If possible, visit the pharmacy where the prescription was filled. Prescriptions filled by one retail chain can be filled at another store in that chain. If the doctor who prescribed the medication is available, beneficiaries can ask him to fill a new prescription at any network pharmacy.
As a reminder, TRICARE beneficiaries, except active military personnel, can receive emergency care from any TRICARE-authorized urgent care center or provider and do not require a referral. This allows beneficiaries to receive non-emergency care for illness or injury when their primary care physician is unavailable due to emergency conditions. Any TRICARE beneficiary who reasonably believes an emergency is occurring should always call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
