EarthLink opens new call center in Norton, Virginia, creating over 200 jobs

EarthLink has officially opened a call center in Norton, Virginia, creating more than 200 jobs for people in the surrounding region.

“Having a really strong sales and service organization here in Wise County, Virginia, that ultimately delivers a better customer experience to our end-user customers is what it’s all about,” Toplisek said.

EarthLink is one of the country’s leading internet providers.

Mike Toplisek, president of EarthLink, says choosing Southwest Virginia as a new location was always an easy decision.

The obvious reasons for this are the low cost of living, the workforce and what we believe to be the untapped resources of the region, said Toplisek.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin attended the opening ceremony and toured the 2,800 square meter facility.

He tells News 5’s Yannia Nordelo that companies like these play a critical role in Southwest Virginia’s success.

“We see a lot of opportunity, there is a great workforce here and we see a great opportunity for Virginians to not only stay but to move here and that is really exciting,” said Governor Youngkin.

Toplisek says that without the support of the community and authorities, this project could never have become what it is today.

The local leaders, the local government, all the councils, the mayors, everyone in the area have really made it easier to move here than other places, Toplisek said.

Both Governor Youngkin and EarthLink officials say this is just the beginning of a strong partnership and they are excited to see what the future holds.
