Battleground Grappling 6 is scheduled for September 28th, 2024 and the promoter has just announced the first few matches for the card. They’ve also started with the biggest matches of the event, announcing a title fight, a Combat Jiu-Jitsu fight, and their co-main event. The Australian promoter has gone from strength to strength over the course of their first few events and quickly became known for their excellent matchmaking, which is on full display here. Each of the three matches confirmed for BG 6 so far feature very talented participants and they will no doubt provide plenty of entertainment.
The first fight on the Battleground Grappling 6 card is the Combat Jiu-Jitsu bout between two MMA veterans, Tim Moore and Rodrigo Costa. Moore has fought over 20 professional fights in his career and is known throughout Australia for his fantastic grappling, despite not having fought in several years. Costa, on the other hand, is still actively competing in MMA and has fought 16 fights prior to the event; most of which came as part of Australia’s leading regional MMA promotion, Eternal MMA. Costa is actually the former Bantamweight Champion of Eternal MMA and it will be interesting to see how he fares against the more experienced Moore.
The co-main event will then be an under 66kg bout between Daiki Yonekura and Rian de Paula, a fight that will definitely deliver fireworks as both men are known for their exciting and fast-paced styles. The final fight of the evening will then be an under 99kg title fight, with two of Australia’s best heavyweight wrestlers battling for the belt. Evolution BJJ Perth coach Brodie Sprlyan is one of the organisation’s fan favourites and he will now get the opportunity to become the undisputed under 99kg champion when he takes on brown belt holder Kurtis Martin of Sydney West Martial Arts for the title.
