Fall means the end of the hot summer days and warm nights, but it also brings with it its own charm. I’m more of a summer person, but even I have to admit that the fall months have a lot to offer. There’s plenty to do in the months of September, October and November too. Here’s your fall checklist and the things you’ll love about this time of year.

Checklist and things to do in autumn

Go apple picking

Depending on where you live in the country, there may be cider mills near you that offer all sorts of fall activities like apple picking, fresh donuts, sunflower fields, farm tours, and more. It’s one of the most popular activities this time of year. I personally love to go apple picking and visit a pumpkin patch in September or October. However, many pumpkins are harvested in October, so if you want the biggest and best, you’ll want to get there earlier.

Go to a haunted house

Fall is Halloween season, and you haven’t truly experienced Halloween unless you’ve been to a haunted house. No matter where you live, chances are there’s a haunted house near you. Many farms also run scary corn mazes during the fall months, which are fun and a great way to be outside in the crisp weather. If you don’t want to get scared, there are non-haunted corn mazes as well.

Order everything with pumpkin spice

Pumpkin spice has almost become a joke now. But there’s no denying that pumpkin spice is everywhere, from lattes to scented candles to cookies. So, I say, why fight it? Pumpkin spice isn’t going away, so give it a try if you see it as an option along the way. Or make your own. Personally, I love pumpkin spice cake with vanilla frosting. The more spices, the better.

Roast marshmallows and make s’mores

Of course, you can roast marshmallows and make s’mores while camping in the summer months, but it’s something extra special in the fall. Sitting around the campfire and roasting marshmallows can make for a super cozy evening. Personally, I like to use dark chocolate for the s’mores, so you might want to give that a try.

Take an autumn hike and admire the autumn colors

Hiking isn’t just for the summer months. In fact, a hike in nature in the fall can be even more fun than in the summer because you get to see all the beautiful fall colors. You haven’t really enjoyed the season until you’ve seen the fall colors up close in all their glory. It’s certainly one of the best activities during the season. What’s your favorite fall activity?
