Fans of The Repair Shop in tears as guest tears up over ‘most moving’ moment

BBC’s The Repair Shop moved viewers to tears after an emotional restoration segment that was described as “the most moving yet.”

In the episode aired on Wednesday (21 August), Lesley and her daughter Nicola brought along a much-loved but worn fluffy cat toy named Jess. This toy has huge sentimental value, particularly to Lesley’s foster son Colin, who they have been caring for since 2012.

Colin, now 12, suffers from Pierre Robin Sequence, a rare congenital disorder characterized by a small lower jaw, breathing difficulties, difficulty speaking and chewing, and dependence on PEG feeding. He also has heart problems.

For Colin, Jess is more than just a toy; she has accompanied him through numerous hospital stays and surgeries. The cuddly cat stays by his side every night, providing comfort, although she shows visible signs of constant love and care, including the loss of upholstery and various repairs to the house by Lesley.

Despite these efforts, however, Jess was in dire need of professional reconstruction, according to Express. Jess’ transformation was so profound that it triggered a wave of emotions among viewers.

Talented duo Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell used their expertise to revive Jess the cat, much to the delight of viewers. In a touching segment later on The Repair Shop, emotions ran high as Lesley and Nicola returned to the barn to see Jess’ heartwarming restoration.

Colin couldn’t hold back his tears as he saw the transformation, a sentiment that resonated with fans watching at home. Social media platform X was abuzz as viewers expressed their emotions over the poignant scenes, with one fan exclaiming: “Jess’ transformation has to be the most moving fix yet.”

Another viewer tweeted: “Oh my god everyone who watches #therepairshop is going to fall over the edge. That was lovely.” A third admitted: “I’ve never seen this show before why am I crying? I loved Colin and his cat.”

Another comment read: “Good God. It always works. Jess the cat and the beautiful Colin. The Welsh lady and her Hungarian ornament. We need a moment.”

Another added: “I suddenly have tears in my eyes when I see Colin getting his cat Jess back. What a beautiful moment, I don’t know how the ladies managed to pull themselves together.”

“The Repair Shop” airs Wednesdays at 8pm on BBC One.
