In a WR room that is often talked about, potential fantasy football dark horse Romeo Doubs is usually an afterthought. The usual line is, “The Packers have tons of talent, with Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and even Bo Melton is interesting. Oh, and yes, they have Doubs too.”
Below, we’ll look at how Doubs can grow on the Packers’ offense in 2024. Doubs currently comes off the board with an average draft position (ADP) of 13.05. As the WR53 in drafts, he has multiple opportunities to surpass his current ADP, making him a fantasy football dark horse in both PPR and non-PPR leagues this season.
Stylistically, Doubs is a particularly good fit for best-ball drafts. His 2023 season met three of the four points I found when reviewing “The Anatomy of a ‘Better in Best Ball’ WR.”
Generally, we look for WRs that line up outside, run routes deep down the field, and earn a large portion of their fantasy points through long TDs. And Doubs fits many of those traits with his high aDoT, high TD rate, and low slot rate. But the trait he lacks stands out as a major outlier.
Doubs averaged 2.3 yards after the catch (YAC) per reception in 2023, the eighth-lowest among 107 qualified WRs. Now, YAC and aDoT are inversely correlated. Receivers with greater depth of target like Doubs have a harder time gaining extra yards after the catch.
But when you’re worse than Tyler Lockett in YAC per reception, we have a problem. It’s a similar story with Doubs, who recorded a broken or missed tackle on just 1.7% of his receptions last season, compared to the NFL average of 12.6%.

Fantasy Football Sleeper: An ADP Bargain
Romeo Doubs exceeded several important benchmarks last season with his 62 open scores and 40 receiving yards per game. His high aDoT, high TD and low slot rate also met three of the four characteristics of a “better in best ball” WR.
The third-year WR’s ADP is currently in the 11th round fantasy WR5 range, and if he continues to play in 2-WR sets, he should be able to pay that price, especially in best-ball leagues.
