Fed up of AI? This iOS design app promised never to introduce it

The main window of Procreate.

Witnesses

In the world of software development, every company seems to want to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their offerings. For some, this is great because AI can bring really important decision-making skills into play.

For others, however, AI is not the blessing it is made out to be. This is especially true for creative people (like me). I have been a writer for decades, and I have never been more concerned than about AI taking over the creative work that has defined me for so long. That’s why I pay attention when a company develops an app for creative people and promises to never adopt AI.

Plus, Midjourney now allows you to edit your AI-generated images. Here’s how

This time the app in question is called Witnessesan illustration app for iPad OS.

In an official statement, Procreate CEO James Cuda claims that the company will never reach that point and that creativity is not created, but created. Cuda even goes so far as to say, “Generative AI strips things of their humanity. Technology built on theft is steering us toward a desolate future. We think machine learning is a compelling technology with many benefits, but the path generative AI is taking is the wrong one for us.”

He is not wrong.

He also posted a video on X in which he clearly expresses his opinion on generative AI.

I say bravo to Cuda. More companies need to follow Procreate’s example in this regard, otherwise AI will drain the heart and soul of creative work.

Due to its stance on AI, users have praised Procreate. This sketching, painting, and designing app costs just $12.99, which means the company hasn’t followed the lead of other app developers and moved to a subscription-based model. The app includes many features that make it a compelling purchase, such as Animation Assist, plenty of pencil filters, ColorDrop for easily changing palettes, QuickShape that lets you create perfect shapes in real-time, and more.

The only thing you habit Find … generative AI to help you make creative compromises.
