Fight hunger and fill the trailer at Wayne Fair to help food banks

“Fight Hunger, Stock the Trailer” returns to the Wayne County Fair in September.

Presented by Farm Credit Mid-America and sponsored by Rural 1st, the contest helps junior fairs collect food donations for food banks across Ohio.

From September 7-12, community members are invited to bring non-perishable food items to the Wayne County Fair. Look for Stock the Trailer signs to find locations where you can donate.

At the end of the fair, the weight of the donations is calculated. First, second and third place prizes of $5,000, $3,500 and $1,500 are awarded to the fairs that collected the most food over the course of the summer. Each participating county fair will receive $500.

All prize money goes towards Junior Fair activities, including attendance at national conferences, investing in new technology, and in some cases purchasing additional items as a donation.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Wayne County Fair for Stock the Trailer,” said Evan Hahn, regional vice president for Farm Credit Mid-America. “Not only does this initiative help those in need in our communities, but it also fosters a sense of teamwork and giving back at our local junior fairs. We look forward to seeing the impact we can make together in 2024.”
